Facebook super clone in Germany sells for €100 Million

No offense, but this is such a big joke. Some Facebook “SUPER” clone got bought for €100 Million. The site is called Studivz. I’m still in shock when I visited the site. When Mike of TechCrunch called it a clone, I was thinking big deal…people bite ideas here and there in the technology field. But when you have an exact duplicate, thats taking it to another level. I mean, the homepage is exactly the same….up to the top-left curve. I’m really surprised that they could get away with it. Getting away with it is one thing, but actually selling for an est. US$132M is a whole other story…talk about getting rich quick or die trying.

As much as I love to hate, you’ve got to hand it to the geniuses behind this site. They had it a bit too easy, take an existing and proven social networking site that is still growing, duplicate the idea in another country/continent, add ugly red colors and sell out…BAM! Looks like it’s back to the drawing boards for me. Now what can I take from Canada into the US or Europe or vice versa??

I wish I could register on the site though in order to see how much of a copy this really is. But I don’t have the time or the patience. I guess technically, I could use Google Language tools for the conversion to find my way around. See below for a screenshot.
