Stock Wallpapers for you wide screen viewing pleasure

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

I found this site called Wallpaper Stock, which has quite a vast collection of rich wallpapers for various screen resolutions. I bumped into it when I was searching for wide screen wallpapers for my new laptop. My screen resolution goes up to 1440×900 and I needed the right wallpaper to fit. Wallpaper Stock is a good place to visit for those wide screen folks out there. Other resolutions for wide screen include:

  • 1280 x 800
  • 1680 x 1050
  • 1920 x 1200
  • 2560 x 1600

They also carry wallpapers in the regular common resolutions. All images are of high quality.

Ciril Jazbec photography

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Ciril Jazbec photography is another beautifully designed flash site for the portfolio of Ciril Jazbec. This is like the one of Scharad L I posted last week. The photo images are truly breathtaking.

I also love the sharp and clean design layout of the website. It’s this sort of site that displays how well minimalism works. There are only 3 colors used throughout the site: shades of black, blue and white. Very simple, yet effective. Also the minimalism helps not to distract away from the main purpose of the site, which is the photography. From the sleek navigation to the smooth transitions and quality photos, it truly is a work of art. The more reason why this site has won both the FWA site of the day and Kirupa site of the week.

Scharad L photography

I was just cruising the net yesterday and I found the portfolio of Scharad L. Scharad is a professional photographer according to the profile. I have to say, he has some of the best photography I have seen it terms of people, creativity, vivid colors and diversity all fused together. I enjoy looking at good photography, and I was impressed with the array of photos on the site DipLight Media. I first found his MySpace page somehow, when I was clicking links through the site. Take sometime that you can spare, navigate through the DipLight portfolio and take in the amazing photography.

Dell XPS M2010, the Showstopper

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

I was on the Dell.com website today, since I’m in the market for a new laptop. Boy was I in for a surprise. On there was a laptop called the XPS M2010 This machine definitely stopped the show, the design is impeccable. When opened it looks like a small form factor desktop with it’s 20.1″ Widescreen display and detachable keyboard. Even better, it’s a full size keyboard that includes the touchpad. Even the monitor has a built in 1.2 MP web cam. This has got to be one of the best designed laptops I have yet to come across. I want one so bad even with the US$2,999 price tag. Too bad though I’m more the IBM-Lenovo/Toshiba dude.

Adobe releases new brand Icons

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

I was reading up on Adobe’s new branding strategy on Veerle’s blog. Adobe has designed a new set of icons to represent their suite of design products.

As you can see above, they are now using two-letter mnemonics and color coding to indicate the products. No matter how much research and prototyping they did, it just looks like a lazy way out in my honest opinion. Sure, having Ps = Photoshop makes some logical sense. But these icons just look like they didn’t even try. I’m sure they could have come up with icons that still make sense like that of Adobe Reader. Which brings me to the other question, why didn’t they change Adobe Reader to “Ar”?? Someone summed it all up with their comment on the blog:

Just curious…

Is Adobe trying to create their own version of a Periodic Table? :-)
